Hearty Deer Stew Recipe

Preparation Time:
Yields: 8 Servings


4 lbs Venison Meat, cubed
3 Tbsp Bacon Fat
1 1/2 cup Hot Water
1 cup dry Red Wine
1 tsp mixed Thyme, Basil, Marjoram
1 tsp dried Parsley
1 large Onion
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp coarse Red Pepper
3 Carrots, quartered
3 Potatoes, quartered


Roll deer meat in flour, then brown in bacon fat, wine, herbs, onions, salt and pepper. Cover pot and and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer 2 hours.

Add carrots & potatoes. Cover and simmer 1 another hour, adding more hot water if needed.

When meat is tender and vegetables done, serve your hot deer stew with fresh french bread.
